Plaza La Alameda

A $70 million, 18.3-acre retail and office center at one of the busiest intersections in Southern California — and the commercial heart of Walnut Park.

Overview

Plaza La Alameda opened on 12 July 2008, combining 220,000 square feet of retail with 18,000 square feet of office space across 18.3 acres.

Developed in partnership with Primestor Development and the County of Los Angeles, the center brought national retail to a neighborhood that had long gone without it. A Metro stop on site makes it directly reachable by public transit — unusual for a center of this format, and a large part of why it draws the traffic it does.

It remains one of the most successful community centers in its trade area, with a mix of nationally recognized retailers and local favorites. Over 478,000 people live within three miles. Monthly community events and promotional programming keep foot traffic high year-round.

Community

More than a shopping center.

The plaza hosts monthly community events — Día de los Muertos, Las Posadas, back-to-school drives, live music and folklórico. They are free, open to the public, and they are a large part of what makes the center work commercially as well as socially.
